Reentry Begins at Incarceration™ — Building the Path Home Before Release
Reentry preparation should begin at the moment of incarceration—not be postponed until the day of release. From the earliest appropriate stage, individuals should be encouraged and equipped to confront responsibility, assess their needs, strengthen decision-making, develop practical and workforce skills, rebuild healthy relationships where possible, and prepare for lawful and stable participation in the community.
Release is not the beginning of reentry. It is the transition point between institutional preparation and community application.
Reentry should not be reduced to the moment when someone returns to the community. It is a continuing process of accountability, preparation, opportunity, support, and responsible participation—beginning during incarceration, continuing through release, and extending into long-term community stability.

Journey and Leadership
My past is part of my story, but it does not define the limits of my future or the value of the work I am committed to doing today.
I have firsthand understanding of justice involvement and the difficult road of reentry. I do not hide that history, and I do not present it as a badge of honor. I accept that truth without allowing it to become the only truth people are permitted to know about me.
I am not asking anyone to forget my past. I am asking that my complete record be considered: the lessons learned, the responsibilities accepted, the organizations being built, the people being served, and the work that continues every day.
My history explains why I understand this work. My conduct, leadership, and service today must demonstrate why I am qualified to help carry it forward.
